Champion Racer Reflects on Recent Success
MADISON, Wis., Feb. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- It is a rare moment when the hectic travel schedule subsides and the demands of business slow to a point where Scott Tucker can reflect on the last few years. The Leawood, Kansas, native does not often sit still for any reason.
But before the 2012 international motorsports event season gets underway, Tucker found a few moments to enjoy the memories of his five national championships as owner and pilot for Level 5 Motorsports.
"The last few years have been a bit of blur," said Tucker. "Since the first national championship in the SCCA in 2009, we have been working very hard and enjoying success in such a variety of different racing series."
Tucker's Level 5 team has entered a dizzying number of events in nearly every form of sports car racing in North America, as well as major events around the globe. Since the 2009 SCCA National Championship, Tucker has been on podiums for the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, Ferrari Challenge Series, IMSA GT3 Cup and Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Series. But his biggest success has come with the American Le Mans Series where he has earned two-consecutive titles.
"When we won the historic 12 Hours of Sebring in 2010 and then claimed the LMPC championship that same year, we knew we had a winning formula," he said. "By going out in 2011 and winning in LMP2 class at Sebring, getting a podium at Le Mans and winning another season championship in the ALMS, we proved something. It is a record we are proud of. And we have no intention of slowing down now!"
Tucker will return to Sebring for the 60th annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida. The American Le Mans Series season-opener, set for a 10:30 a.m. ET start on March 17, will also serve as the first race for the new FIA World Endurance Championship. It will be broadcast March 18 on ABC and shown live on ESPN3 or ALMS.com.
