DENVER, Dec. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- CFA Society Colorado (CFACO), a nonprofit organization serving local investment professionals, is proud to announce Timothy Blum as its new Executive Director. An accomplished nonprofit leader and effective communicator with over 15 years of business leadership to professional societies, trade groups, foundations and charities, Mr. Blum brings robust experience, infectious energy, and creative innovation to CFACO.
Jordan Kunz, CFA, CFACO Director and former President, said Timothy "is the perfect choice to support our dedication to increasing member value and raising the bar for the investment profession in Colorado."
During his career, Mr. Blum's executive leadership experience has included state, regional, national and international nonprofits. He has worked with a variety of industries (such as energy, retail sales, engineering, transportation, medicine, earth sciences, finance and technology), successfully fostering trusted partnerships with both small and large Boards, and creating extensive frameworks to increase member and volunteer engagement.
Mr. Blum founded multiple companies, such as Mission Driven, a management and consulting firm for associations, foundations and start-ups; and Energy Voice Institute, which promotes energy careers by bringing together thousands of high school students through "Energy Career Days". Timothy also served as the Interim Executive Director to Housing Colorado, revamping membership marketing, office processes and financial management, all while keeping operations and lobbying efforts in full effect. Prior to that, Mr. Blum dedicated 12 years to the role of the Executive Director for RMEL, a trade association for the electric utility industry, doubling its membership and tripling programming participation during that time.
Timothy earned his Bachelor's degree in Communications from Denison University in Granville, OH. Additionally, he holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). He is past Board Director and current member of the Colorado Society of Association Executives (CSAE) and ASAE. A recipient of the CSAE's Outstanding New Professional Award in 2002, Tim holds a certificate of Nonprofit Board Governance from BoardSource. "I am very excited about taking on this new responsibility and look forward to integrating a broad range of communications strategies to make our voice stronger," said Mr. Blum.
