Cetera Financial Group Announces Grant as Part of its Caring Cetera Initiative
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Cetera Financial Group announced that a grant was issued from its charitable foundation, Caring Cetera, to a deserving family within its network of advisors. Caring Cetera is an advisor initiated charitable fund (501c3) created for its advisors and affiliates that serves communities where conferences are held, aids members living in communities affected by natural disasters and extends timely resources to members' families during times of personal tragedy.
For its latest initiative Cetera, which is Latin for "for others", turned to Trudy Hurley's husband Paul, who recently became a paraplegic due to complications from diabetes. Trudy, a member of an advisor's administrative staff based in Overland Park, Kansas, and her 14 year old daughter Lauryn plan on bringing Paul home and embracing the tough road ahead. Retrofitting their home is a must, but it comes at a cost of around $30,000. After consideration, Caring Cetera's review panel has granted the initial installment for a contractor to initiate work on the Hurley's home.
Erinn Ford, president of Cetera Advisors, LLC said, "This is a great example of how the dedicated volunteer team consisting of Cetera's home office staff, advisors and its administrative staff can work together to raise funds, determine eligibility and make decisions to meet an urgent need."
"It is inspiring and comforting to see that in the most difficult of times, the generosity of a real community can make all the difference," said Hurley. Brett Harrison, chief executive officer of Cetera Advisors LLC, agrees and adds, "This sense of community is reflected in the innovative collaboration and dedication to each other's success, which is what sets Cetera apart."
In addition to this generous grant, the Kansas City Performing Arts community is taking an innovative approach to aid the Hurley's. On Saturday September 13 from noon to 4 p.m. MT, a live-over-the-internet Telethon titled "Helping Hands Webcast" will feature performers and community theatres from throughout the Kansas City metro area. Trudy and several family members have been performing in local community theatre since the 1980's. Donations will be taken during this time through www.GoFundMe.com. Other donation portals will be offered as well.
