Cetaphil® Brand Launches Cetaphil® DermaControl™, A New Line of Products for Acne-Prone Skin
Introducing Cetaphil® DermaControl™ Foam Wash and Moisturizer SPF 30, Formulated for Acne-Prone Skin
FORT WORTH, Texas, March 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cetaphil®, the #1 dermatologist-recommended brand of cleansers and moisturizers, today announced the launch of Cetaphil® DermaControl™ products, formulated for acne-prone skin. Cetaphil® DermaControl™ is the first skin care line of its kind designed to complement an acne regimen for sensitive, acne-prone skin.
Delivered through advanced technology, the Cetaphil®DermaControl™ skincare system is one of the first to contain Zinc, Ceramide and Oleosome technologies to help reduce oil, control shine, and support healthy skin by helping maintain its barrier function and soothe irritation. The products also contain licorice root extracts known to have anti-inflammatory properties which can help soothe irritated skin. Both Cetaphil® DermaControl™ products are gentle, non-comedogenic and have been clinically tested with common acne medications for tolerability and performance.
Cetaphil® DermaControl™ Foam Wash uses advanced Zinc technology in a new generation surfactant cleanser that offers a breakthrough formulation with less preservatives to benefit the skin. The DermaControl™ Foam Wash's oil-control formula is gentle enough to use with prescription acne treatments and leaves skin cleansed without stripping or drying.
For patients undergoing prescription acne-treatments, using a product containing an SPF is vital. The DermaControl™ Moisturizer SPF 30 is one of only a few products to feature patented Oleosome technology to provide critical broad-spectrum UV coverage and sun protection with fewer UV filtering chemicals. The moisturizer also utilizes Micropearl technology to provide a mattefying effect, ceramide technology to help restore the barrier function, and Zinc technology which has been associated with reduced surface oil and shine control for oily, acne-prone skin.
On average, nearly 24 million patients will see a doctor about their acne, most patients in the 11-20 age range. Typical acne sufferers are not only self-conscious about their appearance, but feel continually frustrated with finding a routine that will not aggravate their symptoms or sensitize their skin. In fact, many products designed for acne contain ingredients like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide which can cause irritation.
"As a trusted leader in dermatology, Galderma is committed to advancing options for the management of acne and other skin conditions that can have a significant emotional and physical impact on sufferers," says Francois Fournier, President of U.S. and Canadian operations of Galderma Laboratories. "Our mission is to provide everyday solutions for healthcare professionals and their patients.
"As a dermatologist, it's important for me to have a skincare line that supports the acne medications I prescribe," said Dr. Linda Stein Gold, an expert in acne. "The desire for a foaming cleanser that allows skin to feel clean without stripping and a moisturizer with significant UV protection without feeling greasy will be a benefit for people managing their acne symptoms."
Cetaphil® DermaControl™ products are the second addition to the Cetaphil brand's extension into disease-specific products. In 2010, Cetaphil® launched Restoraderm® to help manage the symptoms of eczema and atopic dermatitis. The disease-specific line builds upon a legacy of the dermatologist-recommended brand of cleansers and moisturizers. Learn more about Cetaphil® products by visiting Cetaphil.com.
