NEW YORK, Jan. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sun Microsystems Co-Founder Scott McNealy and NCTA President Michael Powell will join more than three-dozen key leaders to chart the future of higher education in the HigherEdTECH Summit on Wednesday, January 11 at 2012 International CES. HigherEdTECH is free to CES attendees and takes place in room N256, North Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center.
Powell, a long-time advocate for using technology to expand educational opportunity, will deliver the morning keynote at 9:00am. McNealy, a passionate voice for improving education and founder of new educational services, CURRIKI.ORG and WAYIN, will close the Summit at 5:00pm. Casey Green, founding director of The Campus Computing Project, will interview McNealy about his ideas for injecting innovation into education.
"HigherEdTECH is an opportunity to talk about the future of technology in higher education with the people who are making it happen," commented Green, who has participated in the first two Summits.
According to Jinny Goldstein, co-founder and executive producer of HigherEdTECH Summit and an education technology pioneer, "We have showcased how new technology is not only helping existing institutions meet new challenges, but also stimulating the creation of altogether new kinds of institutions, and indeed new education services that aren't institutions at all."
In addition to the keynotes, seven HigherEdTECH sessions will offer colorful conversations about the growing confluence of technology and higher education and showcase the latest applications of technology, from e-recruitment to online classes and e-books, open-source curricula and global universities.
On January 12 HigherEdTECH will offer tours of the CES show floor designed for educators. Contact Jim Boyle [email protected] to sign-up.
