Cephasonics Expands Lineup of cQuest Research Systems with New Firebird and Griffin Higher Channel-Count Models for Medical and Industrial Research
Lineup Spans 64-Channels : 64-Element Probes to 4096-Channels : 4096-Element Probes
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cephasonics, a technology-innovation leader with a game-changing embedded-ultrasound platform, today announced the expansion of its cQuest™research systems with the addition of new higher channel-count cQuest Firebird™ and cQuest Griffin™configurations. Cephasonics displayed its advanced technology for medical and industrial research at the IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium technical exhibition held at the Hilton Hotel Chicago last week.
"Following on the heels of our successful high-channel-count medical and industrial production systems, we've expanded our research product portfolio," said Richard Tobias, CEO of Cephasonics. "Whether a medical or industrial researcher needs a baseline system or a high-channel-count platform, Cephasonics offers the ideal solution with a proven path to production."
Cephasonics presented a technical paper at the conference about the company's stackable, modular approach that uses a base unit of 64-channels to create high-channel-count systems comprised of 64-channel multiples. Researchers can use three-to-one multiplexing as desired to match the large-element-count probes being used in their research with the most likely scenarios as shown in the product configurations below. These systems can sustain 450 Mbytes/sec of bandwidth over PCIe 1.1 with peak bandwidth over 500 Mbytes/sec for each 64-channels in the system. In addition, these systems perform RF capture with or without decimation.
Cephasonics' flexible cQuest Ultrasound™ research systems feature user-selectable hardware options that include channel-capture data, beamformed RF data and IQ down-converted data. This provides optimal system efficiency compared to performing the beamforming entirely in software. As well, users can write their algorithms or application code directly in C++, C#, Java or via a MATLAB® interface.
The cQuest Firebird systems are now available for order in five models (channels:multiplexed channels):
- Firebird-64:64 (new)
- Firebird-64:192
- Firebird-128:128 (new)
- Firebird-192:192 (new)
