CEOs Support Gang of Six Budget and Tax Framework
WASHINGTON, July 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The members of the American Business Conference (ABC), leaders of fast-growing, midsize firms, applaud the release this week of a framework for deficit reduction and tax reform by a bipartisan group of Senators. Summarizing the views of ABC members, John Endean, president of ABC, said:
"The CEO-members of the American Business Conference endorse the bipartisan deficit reduction and tax reform framework proposed by Senators Conrad, Durbin, Warner, Chambliss, Crapo, and Coburn. We congratulate this 'gang of six' for their leadership and their persistence during a difficult political period.
"The business community has a particular stake in advancing the 'gang of six' framework. Domestic job growth and a higher standard of living depend in part on a strong fiscal environment and a pro-growth tax code. The United States has neither.
"We call on business and association leaders representing companies of all sizes to join with other Americans in aggressively advocating intelligent change of the sort the six Senators have proposed. There is no higher domestic priority than reducing federal spending and reforming our tax code."
The American Business Conference is a Washington-based coalition of chief executives of fast-growing midsize American companies. ABC members advocate policies to promote economic growth and a higher standard of living for all Americans.
