"We seek to highlight private equity firms that invest primarily in mid-market companies ($100 million to $3 billion in annual revenue) with a vision of developing strategic partnerships," says George Bradt, who co-founded CEO Connection in 2005 with Kenneth Beck. "These partnerships are essential in maximizing the next phase of growth. Our first annual list will recognize PE firms that have brought results-oriented expertise to this market."
Nominations are being accepted from everyone in the mid-market community, and CEO Connection encourages members and non-members alike to spread the word about this opportunity. A selection committee composed of mid-market leaders will solicit opinions from colleagues, academics and business journalists. The selection process will include a close look at five metrics: commitment to the mid-market; partnership effectiveness; financial performance; resources; and social impact.
The Mid-Market Convention and associated awards and rankings are an annual showcase for leaders and innovators at mid-sized corporations. CEO Connection maintains that the mid-market represents a vital cog in the global economy, not only for its robust job creation, but also for its capacity to drive social change and re-define business from the bottom up.
"The mid-market is the underappreciated workhorse of the economy," adds Bradt. "We created CEO Connection to meet the needs and speak to the issues facing mid-market executives."
CEO Connection already has plans to expand its influence, including perhaps the introduction of more mid-market rankings. At the same time, the organization intends to forge additional partnerships with companies serving the mid-market. The organization is also exploring relationships with business schools to enhance their ability to provide the right sort of training and skill-building for this all-important sector of the economy. CEO Connection intends to help its partner schools discover talent and grow their human capital network. Finally, the organization has a bevy of committees it will assemble as part of optimizing opportunities for growth and learning among its membership.
Registration for the 2016 Mid-Market Convention is still open. The convention is open to CEO Connection members and other mid-market leaders who hold specific positions and have responsibility over a company, division or unit. The Top PE Firms for the Mid-Market List will be recognized as part of the Mid-Market Awards Dinner on September 20. Additional awards will be handed out for the following: Most Influential Women of the Mid-Market; Mid-Market Company of the Year; Mid-Market CEO of the Year; Mid-Market Rising Star; and the Social Impact Award.
