The theme of the conference will be Privacy and Data Security in Healthcare.
As the storage and management of sensitive medical information moves to digital formats, the importance of maintaining that data securely increases. Healthcare Information Technology leaders are confronted with growing concerns from patients, employers, and government that private medical data remain private. Several recent high-profile data breaches within the healthcare industry illustrate the threat.
The CSOHIMSS Spring Conference will tackle this challenge head-on with a full day of education and idea exchange around the topics of Privacy and Security.
The program will include two keynote sessions and multiple breakout sessions throughout the day.
The keynote speakers are Brian Baacke, the Chief Information Security Officer for Nationwide Children's Hospital, and Meredith Phillips, the Chief Information Security Officer for Henry Ford Health System. The day will conclude with an Information Security Leadership panel discussion.
Scott Mash, President of CSOHIMSS, said, "There's no more timely and relevant issue in Healthcare IT today than the privacy and security of sensitive medical information. Recent developments indicate that medical information is as valuable to hackers as financial information." Ajay Sharma, Programs Chair of CSOHIMSS, added, "This conference will not only help HIT leaders understand the threat, but also will provide real-world solutions that everyone working in healthcare can begin using Monday morning."
