Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Chooses Unisys to Support Agency IT Services Organization
Under task order, Unisys will support CDC IT Services Office mission to improve quality and reliability of IT services
BLUE BELL, Pa., Oct. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently awarded a time and materials task order to Unisys (NYSE: UIS) to provide support services to the agency's Information Technology Services Office (ITSO), an organization established to enable CDC to manage its IT Infrastructure.
The task order has one base year and two one-year options exercisable at the discretion of the government and is worth up to an estimated $10.2 million. The estimated value for each year is approximately equal.
Under the ITSO IT Support Services task order, awarded under the CDC Information Management Services (CIMS) contract, Unisys will install, design, develop, configure and maintain hardware and software supporting all aspects of CDC's public health mission.
The ITSO IT consolidation mission is designed to improve the quality and reliability of IT services and to increase standardization while reducing costs to free up resources for reinvestment into CDC's direct mission activities. The infrastructure products and services developed and maintained by ITSO are used across CDC and directly support a number of important CDC programs and initiatives in achieving the agency's public health objectives.
"Unisys brings to this critical infrastructure program years of experience and a deep commitment to the CDC's mission," said Anthony Hess, managing partner, civilian agencies, Unisys Federal Systems. "Unisys recently helped CDC's Mid-Tier Data Center in Atlanta to become one of the first U.S. federal government data centers to be compliant with the ISO/IEC 20000 standard for best practices related to delivering managed services. We intend to bring the same dedication to quality and efficiency to the new ITSO IT Support Services program."
