STAMFORD, Conn., Sept. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Centerplate, the hospitality provider which serves premier sports, convention, entertainment and heritage venues across North America and Europe, today announced the promotion of Carmen Callo to Corporate Executive Chef – North America, effective immediately. Reporting directly to Executive Vice President Greg Fender, Callo will be responsible for the culinary operations in the wide variety of venues that Centerplate services.
"Carmen is a proven professional who has played a critical role at the Colorado Convention Center for us over the last 14-plus years," said Chris Verros, President and CEO of Centerplate. "He is an asset to our organization and someone who will help strengthen the overall offering that we provide our guests on a daily basis."
As Corporate Executive Chef, Callo will oversee Centerplate's menu curation and delivery in all of its sports, entertainment, convention and restaurant locations. This encompasses the coordination of local ingredient sourcing, creation of creative menu items and engagement with the vast network of chefs within Centerplate.

Under Callo's lead, Colorado Convention Center opened the Blue Bear Farm in 2012 and was named "Best Caterer in Denver Metro" by Colorado Meetings and Events in 2014. Further, the Colorado Convention Center was awarded the 2015 Colorado Environmental Leadership Program's (ELP) Gold Leader award. The Colorado ELP is a program within the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) designed to recognize and reward organizations and businesses that demonstrate superior environmental/sustainability performance.
During his tenure with Centerplate, Callo has also worked with numerous premier venues at marquee events, from Super Bowls to world-class performances at the Denver Performing Arts Center, to U.S. Presidential Inaugural Balls. Previously, he worked for Adam's Mark Hotels in Colorado, and had his first professional jobs working in Chicago at the Signature Room at the 95th and the Four Seasons. Callo graduated Summa Cum Laude from the venerable culinary program at Johnson & Wales University.
