Partnering with Delmarva Foundation and Central Massachusetts AHEC to Host "Community Health Workers: Innovative Solution to Addressing the Triple Aim"
BALTIMORE, March 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Center for Sustainable Health Outreach (CSHO)—in partnership with Delmarva Foundation for Medical Care, Inc.; Central Massachusetts AHEC, Inc.; and Community Resources, LLC—will hold its 12th Annual Unity Conference on May 20-22, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore in Baltimore, Maryland. Unity 2014 is a national conference designed for and about community health workers. The theme for the conference is "Community Health Workers: Innovative Solution to Addressing the Triple Aim (Access to Care, Reducing Costs, and Promoting Healthy Communities)."
Unity 2014 will address the role community health workers (CHWs) play in creating access to care, reducing costs, and promoting healthy and happy communities. The conference will stress the importance of CHWs to the delivery of health services and health reform; promoting social justice; shaping policy and practice; and demonstrating a return on investment along with sharing methods of overcoming barriers to CHW program success.
"Baltimore is strategically located at the heart of one of the most densely populated areas in the United States," said Sue Myers, Delmarva Foundation VP for Business Development. "With its wonderful restaurants, shopping, zoo, aquarium, and the renowned Inner Harbor, this is an exciting place for a conference."
Unity 2014 will feature plenary sessions with addresses from keynote speakers and panelists, as well as numerous breakout, poster, skill-building, and roundtable workshop sessions. CHWs are strongly encouraged to attend. This conference is an opportunity for CHWs to share knowledge, information, and expertise with peers, colleagues, and policy makers.
A registration fee of $300 includes training, materials, and lunch each day and discounted registrations are available for CHWs and students. For conference information visit: www.populationhealthcenter.org/chwln.
Exhibit space and sponsorship opportunities are also available during Unity 2014. The conference staff encourages CHW programs, related service providers, and educational programs to exhibit and stakeholders should consider becoming event sponsors or sponsoring CHWs to attend Unity 2014 as well.
