Centec Joins the Open Networking Foundation to Accelerate Merchant Silicon for SDN

SUZHOU, China, Aug. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Centec Networks, a leading innovator of IP/Ethernet switching silicon and advanced turnkey system solutions, today announced that it has joined the Open Networking Foundation (ONF), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting a new approach to networking called Software-Defined Networking (SDN). Centec is committed to contributing to SDN development as a merchant silicon vendor and to pioneering in the promotion of SDN adoption in China.

As next generation networking moves into cloud-centric era, breaking the rigid hierarchy and closeness of the current networks are the keys to enable innovations for network applications, Software Defined Networking brings a new paradigm in how networking should be done but also posts big challenge and fundamental impact on switching silicon design.
