Cengage Learning Announces Winners in Make It Count Instructor Video Contest

BOSTON, May 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Cengage Learning today announced the winners of its Make It Count instructor video contest, which challenged college instructors to showcase best practices using digital solutions for teaching and learning. Winners were selected based on strategies that most engage students, improve learning outcomes and maximize student success.

Ten semifinalists were selected based on originality, creativity, memorability, and the overall appeal and impact of their video submissions. The three winners for the Make It Count contest are:

• First Place – Aiyda Evans, Morgan State University: Aiyda uses YouTube to present music videos from around the world and incite student discussion around culture.
• Second Place – Martha Smith, Tuskegee University: To address low student participation, Martha incorporated digital tools like iMovie and YouTube in her Service Learning course.
• Third Place – Mo Cuevas, Our Lady of the Lake University: Mo created a role play activity in which students in her online course present details of a social work program through videos and virtual interaction.

The winning videos can be viewed on the Make it Count contest website. Aiyda Evans will be awarded with travel to an upcoming national education conference. Martha Smith and Mo Cuevas will receive $1,000 and $500 donations to a student scholarship of their choice at their institutions.
