BOSTON, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Cengage, an education and technology company, today announced PlaceU, a flexible platform designed to ensure correct placement in college-level math courses. PlaceU provides a placement test platform that can be aligned to an institution's curriculum. Institutions across the country began using PlaceU this summer to position their students for math success in STEM and other majors.
"As students embark on their college careers, ensuring they are in the right course, at the right time, with the right learning tools improves outcomes, while also lowering costs," said Erin Joyner, Senior Vice President of Higher Education Product Management, Cengage. "Taking a course only one time helps to keep college affordable and gives students the confidence they need to continue their academic journey."
PlaceU's analytics highlight where students are strong or weak in math concepts. A practice test helps students get acclimated to the product, making it easier for them to focus on the actual test. The offline mode feature ensures students' work is saved should they lose internet access.
"PlaceU has been a great solution for our Math Placement Exams," said Jenn Whitfield, Instructional Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Texas A&M University. "The PlaceU interface has given our students a much better experience and we feel that students can better focus on the content of the exam and not the technical aspects of the platform. Administratively, we like the fact that we can still customize and personalize the exams to better meet the needs of our own institution."
Institutions have the option of using PlaceU's vetted tests to provide an online assessment, or their own tests with the benefit of free content consultation, ingestion and analytics. PlaceU's tests have been developed and vetted by industry leaders including Texas A&M University and Purdue University. To learn more about PlaceU, visit: http://www.cengage.com/placeu.
