Cenegenics Carolinas Now Offering Life Length Telomere Testing to Predict Biological Age and Risk for Disease
CHARLESTON, S.C., March 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Representatives from Cenegenics Carolinas, the Southeast's leading age management practice, today announced that the practice is now offering cutting-edge telomere length testing to provide an accurate prediction of biological age and risk for disease.
Cenegenics Medical Institute has partnered with Life Length®, a leading telomere testing and services company, to offer the testing and analysis of critically short telomeres by taking a patient's blood sample. Telomeres are the protective end-caps of DNA at both ends of every chromosome, and critically short telomeres are primarily responsible for aging and age-related diseases.
As part of its comprehensive age management program, Cenegenics Carolinas also offers the nutraceutical, TA-65®, a patented supplement that targets shortened telomeres, one of the primary causes of aging. Preliminary results using the TA-65® supplement appear to slow down the telomere shortening process and may even cause some telomeres to lengthen, which could mean previously aging cells are younger than before.
"We are thrilled to offer Life Length's telomere testing to current and potential patients of Cenegenics Carolinas," said Dr. Mickey Barber, CEO and CMO of Cenegenics Carolinas. "There are a large number of age-related diseases that are linked to short telomeres. Determining telomere length can provide valuable clinical information that can be used to help promote healthy aging and prevent these diseases."
