Cell Phone Charging Kiosks Land at State University
NEW YORK, Oct. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Seventeen goCharge cell phone charging kiosks (http://www.gochargenow.com) have just hit Northern Kentucky University. The Orion has the ability to charge cell phones, tablets, and mp3 players quickly and conveniently. NKU has generously provided their 15,000 students quick and conveniently located charging kiosks. Best of all, the service is free, for everyone.
Robert Weber, Senior Network Manager at NKU commented, "There has been an overwhelming response from students and staff who have taken advantage of this free benefit. Rarely do I see a goCharge station not in use. The ease of setup and the technology associated with smart electronics used in the systems makes maintaining the systems very easy to keep up with changing technologies."
The charging kiosks are located in most buildings around campus, but the demand currently exceeds supply. "Currently, there are 17 stations installed around campus for the Fall 2011 semester and I have a request to install 12 more stations in the next few months," Mr. Weber said.
While goCharge's kiosks have gained traction and garnered attention in New York City and Chicago's bar scenes, Las Vegas and Atlantic City's casinos, and airports across the country, free charging kiosks are a new amenity for college campuses. As the first school providing the service, NKU is pioneering the movement and setting the bar for a nationwide movement.
"Bob truly cares about the students at NKU, and he wanted a solution that was going to be a great value-add to the entire student body," explained goCharge's President, Paul King. "That is why he went with the Orion solution, which is small enough to be positioned in a variety of spaces. Bob and NKU are visionaries; they see what tomorrow's University should look like, and they work towards that vision."
