Celebrity Hairstylist Ken Paves to Host 10th Annual GLAD Benefit in Support of the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness
Red-Carpet GLAD Benefit Will Be Held September 30, 2012, at the World-Famous House of Blues in West Hollywood
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Sept. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves will host the 10th Annual GLAD fundraising event benefitting the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness, Inc. The gala affair takes place on Sunday, Sept. 30, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, Calif.
The theme of this red-carpet event is the GLAD domino effect – sustaining the chain reaction toward equal access for the deaf and hard of hearing. Attendees will enjoy live entertainment, appetizers, dessert, a cash bar, music, dancing, and meet-and-greets with special guests. Professional photographer Tate Tullier will take portraits of attendees as they walk the red carpet, and party photographers will be taking candid photos throughout the evening. Smart cocktail attire is required; guests are invited to dress in black, white, teal or polka dots.
ABC Family is the title sponsor for the 10th Annual GLAD Benefit at the House of Blues. Host Ken Paves will be joined by Sean Berdy, star of ABC Family's "Switched at Birth," who will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. A native of Boca Raton, Fla., Berdy was born deaf. Since his breakout role in the "The Sandlot 2" in 2005, he has won acclaim as an actor, entertainer, comedian and live performer. In addition to Paves and Berdy, other confirmed celebrity guests include actresses Eva Longoria and Amber Zion, rapper Sean Forbes, rock singer Camryn, contemporary/classical dancer Antoine Hunter, and dancer and aerialist Jacob "Krazy Kujo."
Paves, an award-winning hairstylist best known for his work with celebrity clients, is a long-time supporter of the deaf and hard of hearing. He is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), which he studied at community college in Michigan with the intent of pursuing a career in deaf education. Today, he channels that passion in support of deaf rights.
"I'm a proud supporter of GLAD, which represents a worthy cause that's very close to my heart," said Paves. "GLAD fights for equality in the arts, and is committed to helping talented deaf and hard of hearing artists gain the recognition they deserve. The Annual GLAD Benefit at the House of Blues gives the public an opportunity to be part of something amazing and huge. Together, we can make sure everyone gets a chance to express themselves."
