In the 40th anniversary year of both Matua and Sauvignon Blanc in New Zealand, Matua will be the first to celebrate #SauvBlancDay on Friday, May 16 before it travels around the world for 43 hours finishing at Twitter headquarters in San Francisco.
Matua planted the first New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc vines in 1969, beginning the world renowned combo of 'New Zealand and Sauvignon Blanc'. The first bottle of Matua Sauvignon Blanc was produced in 1974.

#SauvBlanc Day kicks off in New Zealand on Friday, May 16, making its way around the globe, to finish 43 hours later at Twitter Global Headquarters in San Francisco.
May 16 2014 marks the fifth annual International Sauvignon Blanc Day – an online initiative that started in California as a global social media wine tasting. Celebrations kick off in New Zealand, the home of Sauvignon Blanc, and make their way around the globe. Appreciation and admiration of the grape follows the sun with Sauvignon Blanc lunches, tastings and events taking place in Melbourne, Hong Kong, London, Toronto, and New York, finishing 43 hours later at Twitter Global Headquarters in San Francisco. Restaurants, retailers and consumers - along with global wine brands - will be celebrating Sauvignon Blanc for the day and participating in the Twitter conversation by using the "hashtag" #SauvBlanc.
