Celebrate Payroll Professionals During National Payroll Week, September 1-5
SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- This Labor Day week, America's employees will celebrate payday and the payroll professionals who pay them. National Payroll Week, celebrated from September 1-5, recognizes the contributions of America's 156 million workers and the payroll professionals who ensure they're paid accurately and on-time, every time.
"Payroll professionals are responsible for America's paychecks, one of the most important aspects of being employed," said Dan Maddux, executive director of the American Payroll Association. "During NPW, we thank payroll professionals for their endless dedication. Our payroll professionals work hard every pay period, to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of the payroll that America's employees depend on."
During National Payroll Week, the APA and its more than 20,000 members educate the public about their paychecks and payroll-related benefits that can help employees stretch their paychecks. The NPW website,www.nationalpayrollweek.com, features tips to help employees reduce taxes and save up to 35 percent on everyday costs, like daycare and medical expenses. Hundreds of volunteers also head into communities and schools around the country to teach paycheck basics to teens.
"Knowledge is a powerful thing," said Maddux. "For a worker young or old, a strong understanding of how they're paid and how to make adjustments can have an immediate impact, reducing their tax burden and giving them a boost on their next paycheck and beyond."
Another part of National Payroll Week is the popular "Getting Paid In America" online survey, which asks respondents to weigh in on topics that impact their paychecks. Two randomly selected survey respondents will win a grand prize of a free paycheck and a trip to Las Vegas after the survey ends on September 5.
