Celebrate Independence Day in Chicago by Reducing Energy Costs and Giving Back
New Spark Energy electricity plan supports wounded veterans
CHICAGO, July 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Just in time for Independence Day festivities and increasing summer temperatures, competitive electricity supplier Spark Energy is introducing an electricity pricing plan that allows Chicagoans to reduce their electricity costs and give back to wounded veterans.
Building on its relationship with HelpingaHero.org, Spark Energy has created the Power for Heroes competitive, fixed-price electricity plan for consumers in the Chicago area providing an opportunity to reduce the price-per-kilowatt-hour compared to utility default service. For each customer enrollment into the Power for Heroes plan, Spark Energy will donate $25 to HelpingaHero.org.
"As a company, Spark Energy has embraced HelpingaHero.org for the tremendous work they do to not only help, but truly honor the men and women, and their families, who sacrifice of themselves to protect the freedoms we all enjoy today," said Phil Tonge, president of Spark Energy. "We are making it easy for our customers to also extend their support for our military veterans with Power for Heroes. Electricity is something we all use and pay for – this allows Chicago-area consumers to select a very competitively-priced option that also gives direct support to a very worthy organization."
Spark Energy has been working with HelpingaHero.org since 2010, supporting the wounded veterans who've received new homes from the organization by picking up the tab for a year's worth of free electricity.
