WASHINGTON, April 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- This evening, the Committee for Economic Development of The Conference Board (CED), will honor Ambassador Barbara M. Barrett, the Chairman of The Aerospace Corporation and a Member of CED, with its Leadership in the Nation's Interest Award. Her colleague, The Honorable Ann McLaughlin Korologos, the former U.S. Secretary of Labor, will present the Award. The nonpartisan, business-led public policy organization bestows this recognition to business executives who lead their companies with the highest integrity and who champion public policies for the common good.
"Spanning the private sector to the public sector, Ambassador Barrett's service makes her one of our country's preeminent leaders," said The Honorable Ann McLaughlin Korologos. "Presenting this Award to Barbara not only highlights her extraordinary accomplishments; more importantly, it inspires other executives to follow suit."
Barbara currently serves as Chairman of the Board of The Aerospace Corporation, the premiere research and development center for national security and military space systems. She and her husband, Craig Barrett, also own the Triple Creek Guest Ranch, a Montana hideaway recently ranked the #1 hotel worldwide.
Equally impressive, Barbara has advised multiple Presidents on defense and trade policy. She served as U.S. Ambassador to Finland, Deputy Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, and Vice Chairman of the Civil Aeronautics Board. Barbara is also an instrument-rated pilot and, following astronaut training, was certified for space flight.
The Award will be presented at a dinner that is part of CED's Spring Policy Conference at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C. Learn more about Ambassador Barrett, the Spring Policy Conference, and the Leadership in the Nation's Interest Award Dinner here.
