CECP Opens Corporate Giving Standard Survey; Unique Benchmarking Tool in Charitable Contributions
CECP in Association with The Conference Board Field Annual Survey
NEW YORK, Feb. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Corporate Giving Standard (CGS) survey, conducted by CECP in association with The Conference Board, will open on February 1, 2013. The survey each year allows for CECP members and non-member Fortune 500 companies to compile a clear accounting of their corporate cash and non-cash giving. Through accompanying CECP analysis and support, the CGS serves as a self-assessment and benchmarking tool for companies. The data from the CGS survey is also used to develop Giving in Numbers, which is corporate giving's premier report focusing on community engagement and is a resource to assess the trends in corporate initiatives.
"CECP believes in the power of data to inspire and leverage the community engagement of the world's largest companies," stated Charles Moore, Executive Director of CECP. "Companies are empowered to do more when they have the data to support their programs. Whether a foundation president is using corporate giving data in a presentation to the corporate board or a CEO is making a speech at Davos about her company's corporate community commitment, data make an impression. CECP is proud to provide the data that strengthen corporate giving programs, globally."
CECP implemented the CGS measurement initiative in 2001 as a way for companies to measure and gauge their charitable contributions. Participation has increased from 17 companies in 2001 to 214 companies in 2012, and the CGS repository now contains more than $105 billion worth of corporate giving data. CECP releases Giving in Numbers each year, and in the fall of 2013 will release the ninth annual report on corporate giving trends with the benefit of support and insights from The Conference Board. Giving in Numbers is the only rigorous study of corporate contributions available for public download at no cost.
Participants can look forward to a refreshed survey with new questions on the role of employee location in determining international giving strategies, giving to employees to support disaster recovery, and the use of grants management software, along with the standard questions on issue areas, types of giving, the role of the foundation, and many more.
Companies wishing to join the benchmarking project are invited to contact CECP or The Conference Board. The submission deadline for inclusion in the analysis is April 1, 2013. CECP will present the findings from the survey at the CECP Summit on June 4-5 in New York City, which is the first look at the previous year's giving data.
