CEC Welcomes Additional In-Prison Treatment Programs In Pennsylvania
WEST CALDWELL, N.J., Jan. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Community Education Centers (CEC) announced today that it received a contract from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections to provide treatment programs at the Pittsburgh and Chester state correctional institutions, continuing its work in the area of providing in-prison programing at eight DOC facilities.
"We are grateful to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections for this opportunity to expand our services and continue to deliver CEC's quality in-prison treatment services that focus on preparing offenders for a transition to productive citizenship," said James E. Hyman, Community Education Center's CEO. "Our evidence-based treatment model is designed to equip offenders while incarcerated with the tools they need to address addiction and criminal behavior so they can reenter their communities successfully and reduce recidivism."
The TC model has a proven track record of success providing inmates with the structure and accountability they need to be successful after release. Participants are engaged individually and collectively as community members, and as they move through stages of the program they ultimately become role models/mentors for newer members. Services provided at the new programs will include a wide range of evidence-based treatment designed for "behind-the-walls" settings including substance abuse counseling, parenting, job readiness and aftercare. Specialized treatment will be provided in Violence Prevention, Batterers Intervention, and Thinking for a Change.
The new TC programs in Pennsylvania will add 586-beds to CEC's in-prison treatment division expanding daily services to nearly 6,500 offenders at "behind-the-walls" facilities in multiple locations across Florida, California, Illinois, Oregon and the Commonwealth of Bermuda.
CEC is the nation's leading provider of rehabilitative services for offenders in reentry and in-prison treatment facilities, as well as providing comprehensive management of county, state, and federal jail and detention facilities. The Company provides evidence-based programming for residential and non-residential clients and maintains a documented record of reducing recidivism. CEC services also include SECON, a division that conducts comprehensive drug testing and screening services worldwide.
