CEC Celebrates Fifteen Years Providing Treatment Services in California, Expands Programming
WEST CALDWELL, N.J., June 27, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Community Education Centers, Inc. (CEC) announced today the award of a new in-prison treatment program, the re-award of an existing program and the recognition of its 15 year anniversary for providing in-prison treatment services to the State of California.
"We are very pleased that the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has awarded us another program, as well as renewed one of our current programs," said James E. Hyman, CEO. "This demonstrates their confidence in the quality of our treatment programming for their inmates that we've provided since 2001. We look forward to building on our shared history of creating safer communities and reducing recidivism in the State of California."
CEC first began contracting with the state in 2001, but its legacy started prior to then. In early days of program development, representatives were considered experts in the field for providing the best treatment approach for the offender population. The state of California invited representatives to train staff at two pilot programs, and were guests of the state while helping launch the programs. The programming was well received and the treatment model was put into effect at additional CDCR facilities. Since that time, CEC has continuously delivered evidence-based rehabilitation services to California's criminal justice population, both through in-prison treatment and community-based treatment programs.
The new award allows CEC to provide Multi-Level Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services at the Pleasant Valley State Prison (PVSP), located in Coalinga, California. CEC was also chosen by CDCR to renew an existing program that will continue to provide Single-Level Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services at the California State Prison-Centinela (CEN), in Imperial. Both programs will commence July 1, 2016.
For in-prison treatment, CEC utilizes an evidence-based targeted cognitive behavioral treatment module that focuses on substance abuse treatment and cognitive thinking changes. The program progresses through levels and relies on a peer-based approach.
CEC is a leading national provider of rehabilitative services for offenders in reentry and in-prison treatment facilities, as well as providing comprehensive management of county, state, and federal jail and detention facilities. The Company provides evidence-based programming for residential and non-residential clients and maintains a documented record of reducing recidivism. CEC services also include drug and alcohol testing by SECON, a comprehensive drug testing and screening company that provides services worldwide.
