CEC Awarded Two New In-Prison Treatment Programs In California
WEST CALDWELL, N.J., Oct. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CEC is proud to announce the award of a contract by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) to expand its In-Prison Treatment Services to two additional California state prisons and the re-award of a contract for an existing program. The new programs are the largest in-prison treatment locations for CEC in California.
New services will be provided at Valley State Prison (VSP) in Chowchilla for 516-beds, and California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison, Corcoran (SATF) for 532-beds. Each of the new programs commenced July 1, 2015, with a two-year contract, followed by three potential one-year extensions. The re-award for the California Men's Colony (CMC) for 216-beds in San Luis Obispo began July 1 under the same terms.
"With the award of these two new programs, CEC continues to be one of the largest providers of in-prison treatment programs for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. We are honored by the CDCR's continued trust in the efficacy of our programs to further their goal of reducing recidivism and improving community safety," said James E. Hyman, CEO. "Our mission is "Breaking the Cycle of Recidivism" and we take pride in our commitment to delivering the best in evidence-based programming at both in-prison programs and in-the-community residential programs."
Designed in coordination with leading experts in the field, CEC's approach to rehabilitation conforms to best practices and accreditation standards while uniquely designed for specific venues. The In-Prison Treatment model provided in California uses a targeted Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT) model required by CDCR to meet the assessed risks and needs of the participants. Services focus on four distinct CBT modalities: substance abuse, criminal thinking, anger management and family relationships. The program also encompasses additional rehabilitative factors including diagnostic and risk assessments, parenting skills, job readiness, mental health treatment and relapse prevention.
These new programs join the CEC In-Prison Treatment Services roster totaling six programs in California, one residential reentry program in Long Beach, and the operation of the Specialized Treatment Optimized Programming (STOP) Placement Office for Los Angeles County. The company also operates in-prison treatment programs in conjunction with government agencies in Florida, Illinois, Oregon, Pennsylvania and the Commonwealth of Bermuda.
CEC is the nation's leading provider of rehabilitative services for offenders in reentry and in-prison treatment facilities while also, as well as providing comprehensive management of county, state, and federal jail and detention facilities. The Company provides evidence-based programming for residential and non-residential clients and maintains a documented record of reducing recidivism. CEC services also include SECON, a division that conducts comprehensive drug testing and screening services worldwide.
