ARLINGTON, Texas, April 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- CEA Farms, an urban farm in rural Virginia, has created a true farm-to-fork experience with its new restaurant, The CEA Grill. The farm's challenge was to construct the restaurant's building with environmentally responsible materials to preserve its mission of serving food in a highly sustainable environment. As a solution, Demilec, one of North America's largest manufacturers of spray foam insulation and polyurea products, provided its new closed-cell spray foam system (ccSPF) formulated with Honeywell's Solstice® Liquid Blowing Agent (LBA) to insulate The CEA Grill with a hydrofluoroolefin (HFO)-blown spray foam that lowers greenhouse gas emissions.
"We are committed to providing sustainable solutions to our customers in the building envelope, specifically in the insulation and air barrier market," said Doug Brady, Vice President of Strategic Marketing at Demilec. "Working with The CEA Grill has been a perfect match as it also aims to serve customers in fresh, eco-friendly environments."
Demilec's new ccSPF product was applied to the exterior walls of the restaurant structure, as well as under the roof deck from the inside.
The new closed-cell spray foam system was designed to enhance the application process by allowing minimal temperature adjustments required, lowering odor and reducing clogging of the spray gun. In addition, the system provides better foam consistency for a smoother finish.
"We're very confident in the new system's field performance at CEA Farms' restaurant, as it exceeded the expectations of our chemists in the lab," said Tom Fishback, Technology Vice President at Demilec. "It's a great sign for projects to come in the future where we can be a part of more environmental builds."
