CCRM Network to Offer IVF Discount to Active Duty Military and Veterans
DENVER, Dec. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine (CCRM) network is pleased to offer U.S. veterans and those in active duty a substantial discount on in vitro fertilization (IVF) services. The discount will be available at all of CCRM's U.S. locations, including Atlanta, Colorado, Houston, Minneapolis and Orange County.
CCRM offers veterans with service-related injuries a 50 percent discount, active duty military with service-related injuries are eligible for a 50 percent discount, and non-injured veterans and active duty military are eligible to receive a 20 percent discount. To qualify, the patient or spouse needs to show identification as proof of their involvement with the U.S. Armed Forces.
"As a former member of the military, I am delighted that we can extend the military and veteran discount to all of our U.S. locations. CCRM recognizes and appreciates the tremendous sacrifices made by our women and men in uniform, and believes that they deserve state of the art, affordable care that is available when they need it," said Timothy Hickman, M.D., medical director of Houston IVF.
According to a study of Veterans who served in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom or elsewhere during the same time period, 15.8 percent of women and 13.8 percent of men reported that they had experienced infertility. Veterans are unable to receive financial assistance for IVF treatment through U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs even those that have received service-related injuries.
"This is our way of saying 'thank you' to the men and women that serve the United States of America so bravely," said Robert Gustofson, M.D. of CCRM Colorado. Dr. Gustofson also served in the armed forces and was a clinical instructor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
