CHICAGO, May 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CBOE Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: CBOE) reported today that total trading volume during April for options contracts on Chicago Board Options Exchange^® (CBOE^®) and C2 Options Exchange (C2) and futures contracts on CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE^®) was 91.4 million contracts, a decrease of four percent versus March 2015 and a decrease of 15 percent from April 2014.

Total options and futures average daily volume (ADV) at CBOE Holdings during April was 4.4 million contracts, an increase of one percent from March 2015 and a decrease of 15 percent from April 2014.

CBOE's ADV during the month was 3.9 million contracts, up one percent from March 2015 and down 16 percent from April 2014. Exchange-wide trading volume totaled 81.1 million contracts, a decrease of four percent from the previous month and a decrease of 16 percent from a year ago.
During April 2015, ADV in equity options rose five percent and index options rose one percent over the previous month, while ADV in exchange-traded product (ETP) options declined six percent from March 2015.

April exchange-wide ADV at CFE was 161,235 contracts, a four-percent decrease from March 2015 and a 10-percent decrease from April 2014. Exchange-wide total volume during the month was 3.4 million contracts, an eight-percent decrease from the previous month and a 10-percent decrease from a year ago.
April ADV in futures on the CBOE Volatility Index^® (VIX^®Index) was 161,157 contracts, a decrease of four percent from March 2015 and a decrease of ten percent from April 2014. Total volume in VIX futures for April was 3.4 million contracts, down eight percent from the previous month and down 10 percent from a year ago.

CBOE Holdings Average Revenue Per Contract

The following represents average revenue per contract based on a three-month rolling average, reported on a one-month lag. The average revenue per contract represents total transaction fees for CBOE, C2, and CFE recognized for the period divided by total contracts traded during the period. Average transaction fees per contract can be affected by various factors, including exchange fee rates, volume-based discounts and transaction mix by contract type and product type.
