VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Nov. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) has launched the first dedicated Roku app for its CBN News division. Gordon Robertson, CEO of The Christian Broadcasting Network, made the announcement today.
The CBN News app on Roku features a sleek look and an easy-to-use, Roku-optimized interface. The app offers on-demand video content from CBN News, plus free live streaming of the network's new 24/7 CBN News Channel including full episodes of its most popular shows. Video clips and news highlights are updated throughout the day to keep up with the top headlines, trending topics, entertainment, and political news.
"Today's audiences are increasingly turning away from traditional television platforms, and OTT streaming platforms offer a low-cost, on-demand alternative for consumers," said Gordon Robertson. "We are excited for the opportunity to partner with Roku to deliver CBN News to a bigger audience."
At the heart of the new app is the CBN News Channel, which launched on October 1, 2018 and features live and breaking news coverage from the network's Washington D.C. bureau, Virginia Beach headquarters, and other locations around the world. As the first 24-hour television news channel from a Christian perspective, CBN News Channel offers live news each morning via CBN Newswatch (8:00 a.m. ET). Other programming includes a daily version of Faith Nation (6 p.m. ET), a political talk show co-hosted by Jenna Browder and John Jessup and also features CBN's chief political analyst David Brody, as well as each day's episodes of The 700 Club and 700 Club Interactive.
In addition to the new Roku app, CBN News Channel can also be viewed on platforms such as Apple TV and Amazon, by streaming (http://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/newschannel), and also Over The Air (OTA) in 15 markets including Los Angeles, Atlanta and Detroit (check web link for local access).
