CBeebies Strengthens its Presence in the US Hispanic Market
MIAMI, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- CBeebies, BBC's preschool channel, announced that just shy of its second anniversary it has successfully consolidated its presence in the pay TV industry as a result of the quality of its content, BBC's commitment to the region, and its rapid expansion in both the US Hispanic Market and Latin America. CBeebies, available in the Hispanic market through the DishLATINO package on channel 848 and in 15 countries in Latin America, continues working on increasing its distribution and delivering on its commitment to offer a broader variety of new programming content for little tykes.
"We have succeeded in making CBeebies an attractive alternative for family entertainment, offering a wide selection of formats with safe and engaging content," said Jessica Rodriguez, Senior VP and General Manager, BBC Worldwide Latin America and U.S. Hispanic.
She added that the success of the channel is based on its extensive portfolio of programs and BBC's production commitment to young children, allowing the channel to offer the best educational television available for Hispanic children in the United States.
"Between December 2008 and July 2010, CBeebies experienced a 43% growth in distribution in the US Hispanic market and Latin America, demonstrating the need that exists in both regions for preschool content that is entertaining, possesses high quality, and is 100% in Spanish," Rodriguez added.
During September CBeebies launched its new animated series Everything's Rosie (El Mundo de Rosie) and a new season of Garth & Bev (El Mundo Magico de Garth & Bev). Its success has been such that the first season of Garth & Bev, together with other recent programming premieres like Nina and the Neurons and Finley, the Fire Engine achieved higher ratings than other programs already established in the market among children aged 4-11 years and their mothers+. Additionally, CBeebies offers renowned and award-winning programs like In the Night Garden, Tweenies and Teletubbies.
CBeebies' programming, including animation, storytelling, puppets, and live action engages children in a fun and safe learn through play experience utilizing exercise, reading, drawing, numbers, and the use of the imagination.
