CB Technologies, Inc. Welcomes Ferdi Serim as Education Innovations Engineer
KIRKLAND, Wash., June 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- CB Technologies, Inc. (cbtechinc.com), a woman-owned Solution Provider and Systems Integrator, proudly announced Ferdi Serim has joined the company as Education Innovations Engineer. Serim joins the team after three years as the IT Program Manager with the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED), where he oversaw a variety of programs related to education technology and data systems. This included working with the districts to upgrade their networking infrastructure to overcome high levels of poverty, outdated computers and lack of broadband access for the students. His accomplishments led Serim to be named the State Educational Technology Director, where he worked to make sure State investments were used to make a difference in learning – including experience in infrastructure, software, and devices.
Serim states that coming to CBT represents a 30-year journey. "In 1990, working as an IT manager in two different engineering companies, I couldn't find anyone who could think with their computer. They could write lots of code and use the apps, but when I pointed to the screen and said, 'What does this mean?' they lost the power of speech. I decided if I can't hire the people I need, I'd better grow them. Thus began my career as a teacher. However, I quickly found that the kids weren't the problem, rather it was the adults who were uninterested in changing the way we educate. I'm elated to work with Kelly Ireland, whose passion around changing lives through technology provides a home for innovative ideas that will change the way we handle education technology."
Michael Archibeque, CBT's Senior Vice President of Government Solutions and SLED/Fed Sales, is elated with Serim's arrival. "CBT's hiring of Ferdi Serim as an Education Innovations Engineer is the missing piece to our education solutions team puzzle," said Archibeque. "Ferdi's vast experience as an Education Technology Director and former educator will help us bridge the gap between our customer's expectations and CBT's education offerings and solutions. Ferdi's analytical and logical approach to problem resolution and solution design definitely brings a value-add to the CBT ideology. Ferdi's hire shows CBT's true commitment to education and developing solutions that will have a major impact on our children's futures."
Perhaps most notably, Serim has been working on a unique personalized learning data system called LEVERS, which CBT purchased from him in 2012. LEVERS stands for LEarner Validated Educational Resources & Strategies and is designed to help all learners develop key competencies highly desired by employers worldwide. Ferdi notes, "while many are concerned with students being at risk of not graduating, we are concerned with the much larger number of students who are at risk of graduating without the digital fluency the real world truly demands: learning how to learn, learning how to manage one's work, learning how work effectively in a team to deliver high quality products." As a women owned small business, CBT has a long standing commitment to increase opportunities, particularly among students who are under-represented in the IT workforce.
