Cavitation Technologies Offers a Cleaner and More Efficient Fuel Solution for Use in Shipping Fleets.
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cavitation Technologies, Inc. (CTI) (OTC Bulletin Board: CVAT; Berlin/Stuttgart: WTC) is pleased to announce that we have an application which can increase efficiency of marine energy systems. CTI's technology can deliver approximately 10% in fuel cost savings for users in addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships. The technology uses a fuel emulsification process that adds water to heavy fuel oil to produce a superior emulsified fuel for ships. Tests conducted showed "significant" fuel savings on generators and main engines, as well as substantial reductions in the ships' carbon emissions. In today's highly challenging business backdrop, reducing costs, increasing efficiency and lessening the environmental impact of operations are among the tremendous challenges we face. CTI offers a strong value proposition with regard to the shipping industry, which spends more than US$160 billion a year on fuel.
Our approach is to develop pollution solutions with innovative applications of proven technology. The physical chemical properties of oil can be substantially improved by means of the compact on-ship homogenizing devices. This approach eliminates the risk of overstocking the ship with the unstable fuel and damaging the power system, and allows the use of inexpensive grades of oil. The fuel homogenization immediately prior to its utilization and using water-in-oil emulsions improve fuel efficiency and prevent the pollution of the environment with the harmful impurities. The water-in-oil emulsion is a superior fuel which burns differently in the engine, the tiny water droplets instantaneously turn into steam bubbles. The steam disperses fuel into fine particles in addition, the gaseous water molecules dissociate in hydrogen atoms and hydroxyl radicals. The hydrogen atoms react to oxygen, recovering the energy of the dissociation of water molecules. The steam instantly disperses fuel, which then is efficiently oxidized with oxygen in the air and burns completely, without forming any residual particulate. It was shown that the addition of 5-10% water to fuel accelerates its combustion by 5-6 times. With the more complete combustion, the cylinders and pistons stay free of tar and are less affected by wear.
