Mr. Fry Leaves Lasting Legacy In Support of Poverty Reduction Efforts
ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Rev. Larry Snyder, President and CEO of Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), honored the family of the late Mr. William "Bill" R. Fry with the Centennial Medal Award for his philanthropic efforts to support the work of CCUSA in reducing poverty in America.

Rev. Snyder presented this award to Mr. Fry's daughter, Susan Sandin, during the dedication and blessing of CCUSA's new office building named the Catholic Charities USA -- William R. Fry Center in memory of her father.
During his remarks, Rev. Snyder said, "The incredible spirit of Mr. Fry's generosity allows us to make a significant investment in the future of the work of Catholic Charities USA in our commitment to reducing poverty in America."
A designated fund in Mr. Fry's memory will provide for poverty reduction programs and serve as a core element of the CCUSA endowment. In addition, CCUSA will recognize him as a founding member of the "Legacy Society" which will honor his legacy and provide incentive for others to follow his example.
The Centennial Medal, a symbol of Catholic Charities' first 100 years, recognizes the valuable contributions of individuals and organizations to the reduction of poverty in the United States and the work that Catholic Charities staff and volunteers perform every day in service to the least among us.
