Catalyte Accelerates Innovation in Portland, Oregon
New development center location amplifies ability to build more local software talent and helps company better serve clients in the Pacific Northwest
PORTLAND, Ore., July 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Catalyte, one of the largest American software engineering services companies, is expanding its West Coast development center with a move from Beaverton, Oregon to downtown Portland, Oregon. This move strengthens Catalyte's connections to local clients, government and non-profit partners and puts the company at the center of a thriving tech economy.
"We believe that proximity enables innovation," said Robert Stahly, executive vice president and founder of Catalyte's Beaverton development center. "As an onshore software development company, Catalyte's ability to work side-by-side with clients differentiates us from other engineering firms. We can now bring our hyperlocal focus even closer to the heart of Portland's vibrant tech community, to collaborate and accelerate digital innovation for more companies."
Catalyte established its Beaverton office in 2011 to co-locate software development teams with a Fortune 500 sports apparel company that was experiencing issues with its own offshore development teams.
Catalyte has the ability to identify individuals from all backgrounds who have the innate potential and cognitive ability to be great software developers. Selected from local communities, Catalyte trains and deploys these software developers to create high-quality software for Fortune 1000 clients. This "farm-to-table software development" model creates local teams working closely with clients to quickly adapt to new technologies and changing user demands. It also reinvests in surrounding economies and builds long-term talent pipelines.
"We have been closely collaborating with Catalyte since last year to transform our Industrial Internet of Things applications," said Annette Tyson, vice president of strategic planning and internal controls at CalPortland, the largest building materials company on the West Coast of the United States. "Partnering with Catalyte has allowed us to evolve our software development processes. We're excited to see Catalyte play a larger role in fostering the digital economy in the Pacific Northwest region."
"We plan to upskill over 2,000 individuals and have 20 development centers operating by the year 2020," said Jacob Hsu, CEO of Catalyte. "This model puts our industry-best developers as close as possible to our clients. This proximity increases communication, reduces overhead associated with project oversight, allows for greater collaboration between teams and produces better software outcomes. Like our new Chicago office, we see this office as a hub where we can not only better service our clients, but where we can act as a facilitator of ideas for the entire Portland tech community."
Catalyte's new Portland office will open August 1, 2018. The first Portland training cycle will begin in September, with the company planning to upskill 200 individuals in the next 18-24 months. In the new office, Catalyte has secured a right of first opportunity to the 3,500 sq. ft of contiguous space to accommodate its future growth. It's an area that would more than double the size of the new office. Catalyte will host an open house this fall.
