DENVER, May 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Catalyst, the leader in fast and scalable ediscovery platforms, today debuted Automated Redaction, a feature for its Insight and Insight Enterprise offerings that will assist reviewers in eliminating privileged and confidential information from case files. This new feature reduces the time and cost of review by dramatically improving redaction speed, increasing the accuracy, and better managing them after they're made.
"Redactions are essential for protecting client confidentiality, but reviewers typically spend a great deal of time manually searching for text to redact and then applying the redactions. And sometimes they're just not accurate or something gets missed," said John Tredennick, Catalyst's founder and CEO. "By helping automate the redaction process, we're lessening the burden and simplifying a often time-intensive process. And, the automation also helps ensure that critical redactions aren't overlooked."
The new module, a major enhancement to Insight's existing redaction capabilities, features five time-saving tools:
- Mass redactions. Search for a word or phrase and redact all or selected occurrences within a document.
- Text-select redaction. Quickly redact any searchable text by selecting it with the cursor.
- Pattern redactions. Quickly identify and redact social security numbers, phone numbers and any pattern-based phrase.
- Page-range redactions. Apply full-page redactions to multiple pages with one click.
- Redaction management. View and manage all redactions from a single window.
Catalyst Automated Redaction reduces the need for reviewers to manually search and redact individual portions of a document. At the same time, reviewers retain full control over the process, so no redaction is ever made inadvertently. Insight continues to support traditional redactions, either by applying boxes to selected portions of a page or redacting an entire page.
"We're helping reduce the most painful part of the review process—manual redaction," said Daniel Au Yeung, Catalyst's head of product management. "The Automated Redaction module follows closely on the heels of our new native viewer with its expanded highlighting capabilities, and can automatically find and redact words or phrases on near–native documents. It not only eliminates the opportunity for human error during redaction, but also saves huge amounts of time and money."
