"One of the greatest investments we can make is in the future of our young people," said David R. Jones, President and Chief Executive Officer of CastleOak Securities. "We are proud to set up these two scholarship funds to help students achieve their higher education goals. We feel it is our responsibility to use our platform to give back in this manner, and we hope that our contributions to these distinguished universities will help promising students to better shape their futures. These scholarship funds, coupled with our summer internship program for high school and college students, are our small way of helping to increase diversity in the finance industry."
"CastleOak's generosity will open doors for students of diverse backgrounds, and really make a difference in helping students and their families realize their dreams," said Georgette Chapman Phillips, Vice Dean of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Director of the School's Undergraduate Division.
"This scholarship fund will not only help us recruit minority students who might not otherwise be able to attend Boston University, but also make a quality education possible for young minority students interested in pursuing business careers," said Chris Grugan, Assistant Dean for Development and Alumni Relations at Boston University School of Management.
Boston University is establishing the David R. Jones/ CastleOak Securities, L.P. Endowed Scholarship Fund for the School of Management. The scholarship fund will provide annual aid to one or more deserving African-American undergraduates enrolled in the School of Management, who are pursuing a concentration in finance.
The David R. Jones/ CastleOak Securities, L.P. Endowed Scholarship Fund at the University of Pennsylvania is being established to provide financial support to undergraduate students with a preference to Wharton students of African–American descent.
Jones adds "CastleOak has always been committed to the cause of increasing diversity in the Finance industry, as we have demonstrated since our founding. We established a summer internship program even before we made our first dollar of profit, and have never wavered in our support of young students throughout the firm's history. With the establishment of these scholarship programs, CastleOak is taking the idea of 'doing good as one does well' to the next level."
