castLabs Builds New UltraViolet Central System for DECE
BERLIN, March 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- castLabs, a digital video technology and services company, has assumed responsibility for the maintenance and development of the back-end technology for the UltraViolet™ service. This includes upkeep of the content ID and metadata registry, and the management of UltraViolet content rights and user accounts.
UltraViolet is an international, interoperable rights system operated by the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE) LLC. DECE is a cross-industry initiative of organizations from the entertainment, software, hardware, retail, infrastructure, and delivery industries, formed to develop digital standards enabling consumers to purchase, manage, and access content across multiple services and devices.
castLabs is keen to support and improve the infrastructure, which currently handles more than 28 million accounts with nearly 250 million movies and TV shows, and facilitated a peak of 1.7 million transaction per hour in late December.
"We're extremely pleased to be taking forward the UltraViolet ecosystem, following a smooth migration period at the end of 2016," said Michael Stattmann, CEO of castLabs. "Redesigning the system and moving to cloud-based hosting have increased capacity and given marked improvements in operational performance, preparing us for any high traffic periods."
"We're delighted by our partnership with castLabs," said Jim Taylor, CTO of DECE. "They built and launched a scalable, high-performance new version of the UltraViolet central service in a remarkably short period."
