BOSTON, April 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten semifinalists have been chosen in Cengage Learning's Make It Count instructor video contest, illustrating strategies to engage students through the use of technology. Public voting via the Make it Count contest website will determine three contest winners. Voting is now open and will run through Sunday, May 8th. Contest winners will be announced Monday, May 9.
The Make It Count video contest challenged college instructors to showcase their best practices for increasing student engagement and success through the use of digital teaching and learning solutions. Winners will ultimately be chosen based on ideas that most engage students, improve learning outcomes and maximize student success.
All semifinalist submissions can be viewed on the Make it Count contest website. Semi-finalists were selected based on the originality, creativity, memorability, and overall appeal and impact of their video submissions. The ten finalists for the Make It Count contest are:
- Mo Cuevas, Our Lady of the Lake University
- Michelle Davidson, The University of Toledo
- Aiyda Evans, Morgan State University
- Eric Harvey, Ball State University
- Layla Kurt, University of Dayton
- Chris McCullick, William Jewell College
- Jaye Nias, University of Maryland Eastern Shore
- Melody Niesen, University of Central Missouri
- Cindy Platt Kenkel, Northwest Missouri State University
- Martha Smith, Tuskegee University
The first place winner of the contest will receive paid travel and registration to EDUCAUSE, or a national conference of the winner's choice. Second and third places will receive $1,000 and $500 donation to a scholarship of the winner's choice.
