Casper Launches Van Winkle's, An Online Publication Dedicated To The World Of Sleep
The Company Announces Elizabeth Spiers as Editorial Director and Jeff Koyen as Editor-in-Chief of the Independent Editorial Venture
NEW YORK, June 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Casper (casper.com), the company reimagining the sleep experience, announces its newest venture, Van Winkle's (vanwinkles.com). Published by Casper, Van Winkle's is an autonomous editorial site dedicated to all aspects of sleep. Van Winkle's features original reporting on how sleep impacts culture and lifestyle, and will re-think slumber and wakefulness.
The veteran team of journalists — under the direction of Editorial Director Elizabeth Spiers and Editor-in-Chief Jeff Koyen — will explore everything from investigative features on sleep disorders to first-person accounts of emerging therapies. Van Winkle's will serve as a much-needed addition to the cultural phenomenon around wellness and lifestyle. While there are numerous publications covering fitness, shelter, and wellness, no single publication owns the conversation around sleep.
"Casper's mission is to empower sleep across fronts," says Casper CEO and co-founder Philip Krim. "Up until now, sleep has lacked true editorial authority. By publishing Van Winkle's, we seek to expand the boundaries and increase the importance of sleep."
"We look forward to making Van Winkle's the destination site for all things sleep," says Editorial Director of Van Winkle's, Elizabeth Spiers. "Deeply reported long-form stories, commentary, and provocative features will change the way people think about their non-waking lives and encourage them to explore new possibilities for nocturnal adventures."
"Sleep may account for one-third of our time, but it affects us around the clock," says Editor-in-Chief of Van Winkle's, Jeff Koyen. "It may be the most important influence on our daily lives."
Van Winkle's' founding team is comprised of experienced journalists, all with diverse backgrounds in science, lifestyle, pop culture, and investigative reporting. The site will publish several stories throughout each day. Ongoing coverage includes investigative reports, columns, advice, explainers, opinion pieces, lists, slideshows, and relevant product reviews.
