CASI Sues Competitors for Patent Infringement
Patent involves automated box opening system
DALLAS, May 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cornerstone Automation Systems, LLC (CASI), together with Robotica, Inc., filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division, against R.E.D. Stamp, Inc. and StreamTech Engineering, LLC.
The lawsuit, filed on May 23, 2012, alleges that R.E.D. Stamp and StreamTech are infringing CASI and Robotica's U.S. Patent No. 7,720,567. The '567 Patent issued on May 18, 2010 and relates to an "Automated Box Opening Apparatus." The '567 Patent resulted from CASI and Robotica's creation of their innovative ABOT® (Automated Box Opening Technology) systems.
The lawsuit alleges that R.E.D. Stamp and StreamTech are infringing the '567 Patent by selling automated case cutter systems manufactured by R.E.D. Stamp that use and embody CASI and Robotica's patented ABOT® solutions.
"We take seriously our responsibility to our partners, employees, and customers," says Tom Karol, CEO of CASI. "As such, we will continue to protect our intellectual property and the considerable research and development costs that it takes to be a leader in innovation."
