Tommy McClung, CarWoo! CEO said, "It is important for CarWoo! to give back to the community that we are a part of. It is exciting for us to be involved with the great people of the Ferrari Owners Group and through them to really help change the lives of children through Opportunity Impact. We anticipate being a part of this effort and supporting Opportunity Impact for a long time."
Opportunity Impact is serving children in the lowest income areas of San Francisco. According to Emily LoSavio, Executive Director, "Opportunity Impact has shown that when all areas of a child's life are nurtured, starting early and with consistency, children from our lowest income communities can gain the skills to overcome the multi-faceted obstacles they face and define their future success for themselves."
The rally festivities begin with a Launch Party at Ferrari of San Francisco on Thursday evening, September 22 at 6PM. The rally cars will be on display. Several local high-end wineries will be serving their fine wines and there will be food as well as live music. Attendance is expected to be around 500 guests, including local celebrities and luminaries. Tickets are still available for $100 each and may be obtained on the FOG Rally website (http://www.fogrally.com/register.)
"Seeing 50 Ferraris escorted across the Golden Gate Bridge by the California Highway Patrol and then streaming down Highway 1 all the way to Los Angeles is going to be an incredible spectacle," said Joe Keon, Founder of the Ferrari Owners Group. "We intend to transform this event into one of the largest rallies in the country. We are excited that we can support a cause as worthy as Operation Impact."
The rally itself kicks off on Friday morning, September 23, precisely at 9:30AM following a launch breakfast at Piazza D'Angelo Restaurant in Mill Valley. Drivers and their cars will be available from 7:30AM. Emily LoSavio, Executive Director for Opportunity Impact will also be present.
At 9:30AM the California Highway Patrol will escort the Ferrari caravan across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Cars and drivers will arrive for the night at the Mar Monte Hotel in Santa Barbara between 5:00PM and 6:00PM.
After making their way into Los Angeles, drivers, guests and friends will gather at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel at 6:00PM for cocktails, a charity auction, fund raising awards, a banquet and a comedy show. One "item" being auctioned is a dinner prepared in your home by for up to ten people by Chef Dominique Chen who has been Michelin starred in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and is an Iron Chef Winner. Tickets for this event are $250 per person and can also be obtained on the FOG Rally website.
"We are incredibly grateful for FOG's support," said Emily LoSavio. "Our program is nearing capacity in terms of the children we can support and so our budget is the largest it has ever been. At the same time, some donors are pulling back in the current economy and FOG has stepped in at a time when we really need them. I can't thank Joe Keon, FOG and their sponsors, like CarWoo! enough for supporting OI."
