Carvana Doubles Capacity With Texas Expansion
Online Auto Retailer Cites 1,000 Percent Revenue Growth, Customer Demand As Catalysts
DALLAS, May 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Following its most successful sales quarter to date, Carvana, Forbes' fifth Most Promising Company for 2015 and the first complete online auto retailer, expands its footprint to meet the customer response for online car buying. Through this expansion, the company now has the capacity to sell and deliver thousands of more vehicles per month, including offering free next-day delivery to Dallas-area customers. Carvana, which experienced more than 1,000 percent revenue growth year-over-year, will now reach nearly 3.5 million consumers with its free next-day delivery option across Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Birmingham and Dallas.
In order to meet this growing demand, Carvana opened its 30-acre operations center in Dallas. Similar to Amazon's distribution facilities, Carvana's strategy is to have physical inventory in key markets to expedite sales and support its hyper-growth. "The response from customers to buy a car online has been so overwhelming, that we have made an investment in a new facility that enables us to sell thousands of more cars per month. With sales already in 39 states, we are excited to further support the demand for online car buying with a larger inventory and bigger presence outside the Southeast," says Ernie Garcia, founder and CEO of Carvana.
Its Texas facility will serve alongside its Atlanta location to recondition, capture 360-degree interior and exterior images, store and deliver vehicles. The company's secure, intuitive online shopping platform allows consumers to browse an inventory of Carvana Certified pre-owned vehicles, purchase using personalized financing terms, and coordinate delivery method and timing best suited to their needs. "Consumers' frustration with the traditional dealership model coupled with our convenient, transparent online platform and unparalleled customer service have been the primary drivers of our success," continues Garcia.
The success Carvana saw in Texas and the Southwest was another driving force behind its expansion into the market. As further evidence a recent online survey of 275 Texas residents ages 18 and older, conducted by Harris Poll, found nearly one third of adults in Texas would purchase a car 100 percent online. To show its appreciation to the early adopters in Dallas who have purchased a vehicle prior to its expansion, Carvana has offered a full refund of the delivery fee paid with their purchase.
