Carter Machinery Dumps Ice Water out of Massive Mining Truck for ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

SALEM, Va., Aug. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On Friday, August 22, Carter Machinery hosted its own unique version of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge – with the help of a 150-ton Caterpillar Mining Truck.  A Cat 785B Mining Truck dumped more than 3,000 gallons of ice water onto 100 Carter employees below.  Standing nearly three stories tall and boasting 1,400hp, the massive truck provided for an Ice Bucket Challenge unlike any other. Nearly 200 people attended the event.

"Finding a cure for ALS is a cause that really hits home for me," said Jim Parker, CEO.  "In addition to affecting many throughout the region, the disease has directly touched our Carter family as well.  We at Carter want to support the movement in any way we can and are happy to have done so in a unique manner that hopefully makes people take notice.  In addition to getting doused with ice water, we will be making a monetary donation of $10 for every Carter employee."
