CARS Drive Into L.A. With Artist Michael Becker Behind The Wheel
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Whether we commute short distances or spend hours on America's roadways each day, we are surrounded by other vehicles. But no one else sees automobiles quite the same way as photographer Michael Becker, who brings his CARS exhibit to Gallery Brown from January 14 through February 8.
An outstanding array of twelve oversized prints mounted on Plexiglas, most measuring 44 x 62 inches, are certain to steer your senses into overdrive. The Los Angeles-based photographer takes pleasure in bringing personality and charm to inanimate objects.
"The show is a departure for me in that it is less dependent on architectural shapes and sharp angles. The lines in the images are rounder and more carefree than those in my previous shows." said Becker.
From the vibrant tones found in Red Car to the dramatic colorization of Black Car, Becker has been able to create multiple moods through his well-plotted manipulations.
"I was inspired to do this show after taking a friend and his six-year-old son to an automobile museum on a Sunday afternoon because the little boy loves cars so much. My favorite is Red Car, a 1939 Lincoln." said Becker.
CARS will give visitors the opportunity to interact with the creative genius behind the lens that is Michael Becker.
"I hope people leave with a sense of the beauty of the vintage cars and remember that we once were able to have metal automobiles, not plastic ones," he said.
An artist's reception will be held on opening day from 6 to 10 p.m. Gallery Brown is at 140 South Orlando Avenue in Los Angeles.
All artist's proceeds from exhibition sales will benefit The L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center.
