ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Oct. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Carrington Charitable Foundation (CCF) today announced that it raised over $1.4 million for wounded Heroes and their families at its 4th Annual Golf Classic event on October 6th, 2014. Held at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast, California, the event featured a golf tournament, banquet and auction, with over 450 guests in attendance to hear Veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts and their Caregivers share the reality of living with catastrophic post-combat injuries.
All proceeds raised at the event, hosted by The Carrington Companies' non-profit organization, directly benefit the Carrington House Project, Veterans Airlift Command (VAC), and The Gary Sinise Foundation (GSF).Guest speakers included: Gary Sinise, actor, humanitarian and Founder of The Gary Sinise Foundation; Walt Fricke, Founder and CEO of the Veterans Airlift Command; Bruce Rose, Carrington Founder and CEO; and wounded Heroes US Army SSG (Ret.) Travis Mills and USMC 1stSgt Ben Holmes.

The Veterans Airlift Command organizes free air transportation through a network of volunteer aircraft owners and pilots for severely wounded Veterans and their families of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. Carrington Aviation has participated on missions with aircraft and crew over the last seven years, transporting heroes to medical facilities for treatment and reuniting them with their loved ones.
The Carrington House Project provides housing solutions during the initial period of recovery in hospitals to keep families united. The Carrington Companies furthers the mission to permanently house injured Veterans and their families in a partnership with The Gary Sinise Foundation, which provides donations and operational support for GSF's R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence & Supporting Empowerment) program.
