Caron Treatment Centers Opens $15 Million Carole and Ray Neag Medical Center
State-of-the-art facility enhances Caron's complex medical treatment capabilities and caters to the growing demographic of addicted older adults
WERNERSVILLE, Pa., Nov. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Caron Treatment Centers, a leading not-for-profit provider of addiction and behavioral healthcare treatment with 60 years in the field, today opened the Carole and Ray Neag Medical Center at its Berks County headquarters. The state-of-the-art facility features an expanded detoxification center, rooms for medically compromised patients, and a new location for Caron's Older Adult Program.
The three-level 47,000 square-foot building, located on the south side of campus, now serves as Caron's welcome and admission center. It offers 24-hour care and advanced addiction medicine capabilities, such as neurofeedback therapy and psychological assessment suites. Caron's on-site medical and psychology teams will be based at the center further enhancing Caron's ability to provide medically supervised detoxification, stabilization, and assessment.
"Today we serve a diversified mix of patients with more complex needs, specifically related to the opioid epidemic and the increased number of addicted older adults. This requires not only a larger facility, but also one with enhanced treatment capabilities," said Doug Tieman, president and CEO of Caron. "The opening of the Carole and Ray Neag Medical Center reflects our ongoing dedication to high quality treatment for individuals and families."
The center will house Caron's chronic pain program and features dedicated spaces for physical therapy and hydrotherapy. Likewise, the center also includes advanced medical capabilities for nurses and physicians, observation rooms for comprehensive patient care, 15 beds for detoxification and medical supervision, and 14 private beds equipped for older adults. The three-level building is completely handicap-accessible and has ample parking.
"The grand opening of this innovative building was made possible by the incredible generosity of Carole and Ray Neag, whose lead gift made this concept a reality. Additionally, Ben Zintak, Tom Moran, and Judy Collins, who chaired the comprehensive Open the Door fundraising campaign, raised more than $60 million, $12 million of which specifically supported the center," says Tieman. "The support of our employees, alumni, family, and friends was also paramount. Finally, we are grateful to Olsen Design Group Architects and Benchmark Construction Company for designing and building a facility that advances our clinical capabilities in a setting that exceeds all expectations for warmth, comfort, and beauty."
