Carolinas HealthCare System Launches First-Ever Video Newscast
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- "Production teams, an assignment desk, tens of thousands of potential viewers, and stories on research studies, local patients, breaking news and special reports. Not what you'd expect from a healthcare system, but that is exactly what we just launched," said Gail Rosenberg, Assistant Vice President, Public Relations, Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS).
In late July 2011, CHS debuted its own newscast program available for employees and the public to view, a first for the organization. The program, called CHS Network News, is a weekly newscast bringing viewers news and feature stories about CHS, its physicians, employees and patients, and the communities it serves.
"CHS Network News is dedicated to sharing stories about the healthcare we bring to our patients and communities every day, and to events around us that impact how we deliver that care, in a concise, visual way," said Rosenberg.
Each week's newscast, featuring stories from the preceding week, is posted Mondays to the system's websites and YouTube channel, as well as its Facebook and Twitter pages. It's also shared with employees, patients and guests through CHS information kiosks located in many of its facilities.
CHS Network News is anchored by Scott White, who brings a unique combination of radio broadcast and communications experience to the role. White was a long-time radio news anchor/reporter for stations in Michigan and North Carolina (in both Raleigh and Charlotte). He also previously served as news director of WBT Radio in Charlotte before coming to CHS.

The program is a production of the CHS Marketing & Public Relations Department, using its new production studios that were completed recently.
"This news program, as well as the development of the production studios, is part of a larger effort to reach our audiences through new and more effective ways," said Russ Guerin, Executive Vice President, CHS. "The manner in which each of us, including our employees and patients, receives information continues to evolve, and Carolinas HealthCare is proud to be ahead of the curve with this new, innovative and visual information platform."
