Carolinas HealthCare System Announces Their Transformational Lean Leadership Development Program Recommended for College Credit by the American Council on Education
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) has announced that The American Council on Education's College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT®) has evaluated and recommended college credit for transformative leadership skills development courses delivered by the CHS Performance Excellence Center. For more than 30 years, colleges and universities have trusted ACE CREDIT to provide reliable course equivalency information to facilitate their decisions to award academic credit. Carolinas HealthCare System is one of only a few health care systems in the country listed in the ACE National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training.
"This extraordinary achievement is not only a remarkable opportunity for CHS teammates, but a confirmation of the excellent regional and national reputation of the Carolinas HealthCare System," says Michael E. Johnston, DM, Vice President for Corporate Operations. "The significance of this recognition represents exemplary academic rigor and the increasing demand for higher order thought leadership throughout the industry."
The American Hospital Association (AHA) found that health care organizations are beginning to invest in training and leadership development as top priorities to meet the fast-paced evolutionary demands in the industry. In its annual survey report of health care CEOs, the AHA reported that nearly 80% of respondents indicated that they had established in-house training and custom leadership development to equip clinical and non-clinical professionals with transformative leadership skills.
The CHS Performance Excellence Center's Lean Leadership Development Program is the capstone for upwardly mobile leaders, and its graduates earn 30 semester hours of college credit. In addition, for each of the Lean Education Certification levels, teammates earn 1 semester hour for a total of 33 academic semester hours of college credit.
Dr. Johnston adds, "To remain the first and best choice for care, Carolinas HealthCare System has committed to provide exceptional, high quality transformational leadership training through the Performance Excellence Center."
