COLUMBIA, S.C., Feb. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Carolinas AGC (CAGC) members recently spent a day with legislators at the South Carolina State House to show support for the Right to Work Act passed in the House, and to encourage the use of surplus funds in the state budget to fund the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

Along with Carolinas AGC lobbyist Leslie Hope and other staff, CAGC members were introduced in the Senate by Senator Luke Rankin (Horry County), and then treated to a civics lesson in the House by House Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee Chairman Bill Sandifer (Oconee County).
The day was capped with an evening reception, hosted by Carolinas AGC, and attended by nearly 250 CAGC members (general contractors, specialty contractors, suppliers and service providers) and South Carolina House and Senate members.
Marty McKee, vice-president of Thrift Development Corp., noted, "It makes me proud as a Carolinas AGC member to hear the legislators and their staff speak so highly of 'our' lobbyist. I felt the education and explanation of the legislative process not only cleared up some misconceptions of how the process works, but also reduced the reluctance some of our members had about contacting their legislators."
Carolinas AGC represents contractors and construction-related firms in North Carolina and South Carolina, and serves as a chapter of AGC of America and ARTBA. Together with its members across both states, Carolinas AGC is the voice of the construction industry. Visit Carolinas AGC at www.cagc.org.
